Swati Dance Company (SDC) is a South Asian Dance Company based in the Northwest region of England, founded by Dr Swati Raut, an established dance artist, choreographer, teacher and educator. SDC’s philosophy is creation and propagation of Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam through excellence in practice. SDC aims to make Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam more accessible to wider audiences in the Northwest of England and beyond by providing:
- Training in Bharatanatyam through weekly classes
- Developing and mentoring students for professional performance, preparing them for ISTD exams and Arangetram (dance graduation)
- Creating and touring traditional and creative dance performances
- Offering educational workshops in schools and communities to promote and educate people in South Asian dance and music
